Enhancement of Cultural Heritage

Within the scope of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the Serra Henriques Foundation implements and consolidates a set of interconnected initiatives for the enhancement of traditional architecture as a contribution to the economy, society and cohesive development of the national territory.

The work developed by the Serra Henriques Foundation with academia, government, local authorities, specialists and cultural institutions is a constant process that stimulates this national goal. This happens in several initiatives such as the implementation of the National Policy for Architecture and Landscape (PNAP), the architecture awards or the holding of conferences and dissemination of good practices.

The prestige conferred on the regional diversity of our country is a strong stimulus for the preservation of heritage values and an excellent opportunity for the social, cultural and economic progress of Portugal. The various Portuguese regions have a historical, cultural and architectural heritage of undeniable value and growing international projection. It is this concern with valuing and safeguarding these rich and diversified assets that should therefore assume a continuous relevance in the scope of public policies at the central and local levels.
